When using dye powder it is important that the dye is not breathed in. When using the dye powder for my panel I used a damp brush to apply the powder to the wet paper pulp in a draught free environment. This prevented it from blowing around. The surrounding work surface was protected with newspaper.

When using the sewing machine I follow these practises:

• Switch off when not in use to prevent it being accidentally activated


• Keep liquids away
• Take regular breaks to stretch to avoid muscle strains
• Keep fingers out of the needle area when machining without the presser foot
